Parent letter prior to third dose of HPV for all participating girls (Second Level Schools)
Name of school: Mount Temple
Re: HPV (Human Papillomavirus Vaccination) Programme
Dear Parent/Legal Guardian,
The HPV vaccine protects girls from cervical cancer. Three doses of HPV vaccine are required to give full protection and these are given over a period of 6 to 12 months.
The HSE vaccination programme is continuing in second level schools. All girls who commenced vaccination since September are now due their Third Dose.
The HSE school vaccination team will visit your daughter’s school on Friday 16th March to give the next dose.
Your daughter should NOT receive another dose of the vaccine if she
- had a previous severe allergic reaction to Gardasil
- is pregnant
Please contact us at the number below if you think your daughter should not have the vaccine
On the day of vaccination please make sure your daughter
- has eaten breakfast
- wears a loose fitting short sleeved top
- brings her immunisation record card to school
If you have any questions, the school vaccination team will be happy to help. We can be contacted on 8467097
Further information is available on www.hpv.ie .
Any eligible student (1st and 6th year) who did not avail or the first dose in September may do so on the 18th November and can then receive their second dose in March. Third dose for 1st years in September 2012 and a mop-up clinic for 6th years. Information will be given to all students to ensure they receive the three vaccinations for HPV.

Junior Certificate Science (Revised Syllabus) 2012
There are three parts to the examination:-
Coursework A = 10%
Coursework B = 25%
Terminal Examination = 65%
Coursework A:- Students must complete 30 mandatory activities as specified in the syllabus. Each student has their own laboratory copy with a written report of each activity. These have been kept in the labs under the supervision of the teachers throughout the three years of the Junior Certificate course. This must be available in the school for inspection. Students sign off on those activities they have completed by Friday April 27th.
Coursework B:- Each student undertakes two prescribed investigations based on topics in the syllabus. The investigations will be carried out and reports written up in class time between February 20th and March 30th. Report booklets to be signed off by Friday April 27th. Research and preparation may be done at home but must be the student’s own work. Most materials for the investigations this year should be available in the science laboratories but it may be necessary for students to supply some materials themselves..

Well done to the Cadets who got through to the All Ireland Regional Group Stages. On the day the girls won the first two matches but unfortunately, they lost by a small margin to a very strong Cork side.
The girls had a great year and all hope to continue in September.
Congratulations to the Senior Girls who also qualified for the All Ireland Regional Group Stages. They travel to Tubbercurry, Sligo for the tournament stage on Saturday 4th February . There will be three matches played, one each against Cork, Monaghan and the hosts Sligo.
Best of luck to all involved.
Will keep you posted.

Grease Props and Costumes
We are looking for all of these items. if you have anything on the list and would lend it, please either give it to your son/daughter, clearly labelled, for my attention, or email me: fiona.mchardy@templemail.ie. Many thanks, Fiona McHardy.
Costumes, especially, are pressing, as the cast is large. Costume list is below the props list.
- 1950s microphone(s) with mike stand(s). We can mock something up with replica mikes from Ebay, but any ideas of where we could borrow an actual (replica) mike+stand from would be very welcome. We may need up to 5.
- 1950s rock n roll records – or just the sleeves, for the scene where they get ‘played’, as we can put any old charity shop records into them so that your vinyl doesn’t get damaged.
In fact, we’d love as many covers as possible – it would be really great to dress the front of house with these as well… ( 45s – without sleeves – would be amazing, for the same purpose…)
- Chrome/leatherette Burger Palace stools (about 4 or 5) – red leatherette + chrome stools.
- Bakelite dial telephone
- Zip gun
- Lead pipe and chain
- 1950s radio (doesn’t have to work)
- Small portable radio (ditto)
- Fluffy dice (red?)
- Chrome hubcaps
- Clothes rails

Firstly congratulations to both Senior Girls and Cadet Girls on reaching The All Ireland School Playoffs. Both teams have worked extremely hard to reach this stage. This year the Cadets are hosting the tournament round in Mount Temple on the 21st of January.
The first match is at 9.30 A.M in the Mount Temple Gym. This is a rare occasion for the teams and the school, we hope to host this great event for many years to come.
