The Senior Girls have been enetered in bothe Cup and League competitions this year. Following their dramatic success in reaching the leinster Quater Finals in their debut year in 2007/8, and being narrowly defeated 1-0 by St. Peters Dunboyne, an administrative error left them out of the competition last year but continued training. They have been entered a competitive and dedicated squad forthis years U-18 competition and are confident of doing well.
Ms. Meenah has joined the coaching staff. With Mr. Clarke having to look after the U-16 boys,he can only make some coaching sessions and matches, but Ms. Meenah has been drilling the girls in technique and fitness.
Training takes place on Monday afternoon from 4-5pm. Match fixtures are yet to be allocated, but a friendly is hoped for against st. Louis Rathmines in the next 2 weeks.
The Under 18 girls won their first match on the 11th of November. After a tough game they came out with 7 goals to 3, a very good start to the season.
Under 18 Boys
As some coaches are not getting involved in coaching this year, the present one are thinly stretched. Mr. Clarke is with the U-16 boys and senior girls , so Mr. Kelly has been taking the senior boys on his own.
They had a difficult opening Cup match V’s St. Josephs CBS but led for much of the first half before St. Josephs eventually ran out winners.
Unfortunatly, Mr. Kelly left for another job and as there is no-one willing to commit to theSenior Boys, they have been withdrawen from the league competition.
Some U-18 squad members still train with Mr. Clarke and the U-16 squad on Wednesday.
Under 16 Boys
Mr. Clarke has taken over the U-16 Boys. They have already had a couple of trial sessions and a number of coaching sessions.
They are mostly a young squad, with a lot of 2nd and 3rd years, but make up for their lack of physical size with a high level of skills. Competetition for starting places is ata high level. The opening cup fixture is against current all Ireland champions, Larkin CC, and should prove a good benchmark.
The following league fixtures are against Donahies and Castleknock.
Training takes place on Mondays and Wednesadays.
The focus is on organisations, movement, skill but overall on fun.
For the names of the Sports Awards winners see the Latest News on homepage of this site.

News
Mount Temple Cup Run: Mount Temple boys had the best set of cup results seen in this school in a long time, from first years right up till Senior level. Every year made it to their respective cup quarter finals with both first years and Juniors making it through to the semi-finals.
The first years played Dundalk in the first round of the cup and did brilliantly to come away 7-0 winners. Next came Newpark Comprehensive, a tougher challenge but they still managed to progress after a 2-0 win. Into the semi-final, this time they would be playing "A" league side, Sutton Park. They proved a step to far and the match ended in a 4-1 defeat.
Minor boys didn’t have such a successful time when they came up against Newpark Comprehensive in the quarter-final, in a very tight match, Newpark came out on top in a 1-0 victory. Newpark’s goalkeeper must get a mention due to his excellent performance on the day which inevitably denied a strong Mount Temple team a semi-final place.
Junior Boys had it tough, a first round game against Kings Hospital proved a tight match for the team that never trains, eventually coming out 3-1 winners. An even tighter match saw them take on Newpark and scrape through 2-1, a tough match versus Wesley awaited. A tough but even match ensued even if the score line didn’t reflect this. At one point the teams were level at 3-3, but this was not to last as Wesley scored a controversial flick. Two goals followed with Mount Temple playing no goalkeeper.
Senior Boys was where the drama was. Two games with extra time and one with penalty flicks made this cup run as exciting as possible. First up was Kings Hospital, a very exciting match was to be seen and after normal time the score was 1-1, and an Adam Merrey goal sealed a spot in the semi-final of the Senior Plate. Up next was High School, "B" league leaders and a daunting prospect. At 3-2 down with two minutes left of normal time, our goalkeeper, Senan, was removed. With eleven outfield players we found the net. Extra time. We quickly conceded a goal, Senan was removed again and they scored a fifth goal. But the turning of the tie came when High School player, Shane O'Donohoe received a yellow for aggressive behaviour. With a minute and twenty seconds left, it looked lost but two goals from nowhere got us back to 5-5. We thought we had the momentum but disappointingly we lost 4-3 on flicks. A superb game regardless of the outcome.
A good display by Mount Temple teams this year, hopefully next year we can make it to that elusive final.
First Year: Congratulations to all first year hockey boys, this years camp saw over 50 boys in attendence as well as huge numbers attending training each week. Lets hope this continues throughout this and the next six years they will be playing Mount Temple hockey. Good luck to them through the coming season.
First year A team have started the season brightly with one win and a draw with many players playing at minor level and even junior level. Meanwhile the B team played and lost their first match versus a very talented Kings Hospital side.
All Irelands: On the 21st-23rd of October, Mount Temple Senior Boys competed in theAll Ireland Schoolboys hockey tournament. This was the first time in ten years that the senior boys competed at such a high standard and they did the school proud. The tournament consists of three group games over two days and either a semi-final and possible final or a placement game on the final day.
We started off on the first day with an extremely tough match against much fancied Banbridge academy. We went into this match with realistic expectations of a respectable scoreline. We believe we achieved this with a performance full of effort and hard work. Although we came off at the wrong end of an 11-0 scoreline, we held our heads high.
Day two was a totally different prospect, two games against weaker opposition although still very tough. However we had our army of supporters to cheer us on, many thanks. Game one was against Munster champions, Bandon GS, we entered with a possibility of a good result if the effort was there. Unfortunately despite the huge amount of effort put in by all, we lost the game 5-1, our goal scored by Mark Ryan. This is definaely a game where we feel that the scoreline does not reflect the game in any circumstance, and I think our legion of supporters will agree. Later that day, tired as we were, we still had another game to play. This tme we lined out versus Cambell College, the hosts of the tournament. The first half ended on a somewhat positive note at 1-0 down but having hit the post twice and an array of other chances. However the second half showed our fatigue as the match finished 5-0 to the Ulster side.
On behalf of the team, I would like to thank all of the coaches who organised and participated on the rip as well as all school and outside school supporters and the tournament organisers and Cambell College for a fantastic tournament.
Leinster Under 18s: We are glad to announce that we had one player representing Leinster at this years interpros. Mark Ryan had the honour of being named vice captain for the competition and they narrowly missed out on a tournament win behind an impressive Ulster side. This follows on from our success at under 18 level with Luke Hayden representing Leinster under 18s two years ago.

Up to date rugby news is now available on the online Mount Temple Sports Newletter - http://mounttemplesports.wordpress.com/category/rugby/
First Year
1st Year Rugby focuses on enjoyment of the game and learning and developing new skills such as passing, evasion, tackling and kicking.
Under 14
Under 14 Rugby looks to develop on skills learnt in 1st Year and build on them looking towards the Junior Cup in 3rd Year.
JCT
Junior Cup Rugby is the first major Competition players will be involved in. Mount Temple are entered in Section 'A' of the Junior Cup.
We were runners up in the 05/06 Cup.
SCT
The Section 'A' Senior Cup is a major Competition in the rugby calendar. The Senior Cup team draws players from 6th Year through to 4th Year.
In the past number of seasons the school has been quite successful, reaching 3 finals in the past 4 seasons. In the 04/05 Season the team reached the Section 'B' Finals, and also were the first in the school's history to compete in the Premier, Section 'C' against Terenure College.
09/10 Season So Far
The rugby season in Mount Temple has reached it's halfway. Off the field, we have had a visit from Bernard Jackman who brought the Six Nations and Triple Crown trophies into the school. “Berch” as he is known throughout the rugby community also conducted an insightful questions and answers session with all players about what being a professional rugby player is like. The Heineken Cup was also on show in the school. On the playing side of things, we have had a mixed set of results throughout all 4 teams in the school to date.
Starting with the Seniors, the team were knocked out of the McMullen Senior Cup in the first round by Naas in Newbridge School on the 25th of November going down 16-0. The team has been plagued with injuries throughout the season and several players had only recently returned from injury, lacking match practice
The Junior Cup team also suffered a first round defeat in the Duff Junior Cup, losing to Wilson's Hospital 17-5 in a gutsy and performance the players should be proud of. After being tied 5-5 up until the dying minutes when Wilson's introduced a flying back who manoeuvred his way around the Temple backline to put the Multifarnham into the lead. The Temple boys came back fighting but after conceding possession, Wilson's flyer again took off down the wing, leaving Wilson's with a very flattering scoreline and the Temple team devastated.
A special mention must go to 2nd years Dan Gill, Daragh Irwin and David O’Byrne who all shone and have gained valuable experience.
Both teams will now enter their respective Shield Competitions which will involve teams knocked out in the first and second round of each cup.
Both teams should go into these competitions with a real purpose and seek to bring home some Silverware.
The 2nd Years are progressing well under the guidance of Paul Gorman, Matty O’Reilly and Glenn Predy (all former pupils) and had a good win against Terenure College. Along with the 3 representatives on the Junior Team, there are several players showing real promise. The 2nd Years will compete in the Otto Palcic tournament in the New Year.
The 1st Years are doing well with players new to the game picking up new skills quickly and those with a few years of playing experience behind them also developing and gaining new insights. They will also compete in the Ottoc Palcic tournament after Christmas.
Rugby in the school is showing both positives and negatives, obviously both cup teams are unhappy about losing in the first round, however when one door closes, another one opens, and the shield tournament offers both teams an opportunity Mount Temple teams have not had in several years.
Neal O’Keefe represented Leinster A Schools in the A interpro‘s at the beginning of the season .
The school is also represented by the pupils of 4th and 5th year who are ball boys for all of Ireland and Leinster’s home games.
The school has now been providing ball boys for over 6 years to the Leinster Branch, allowing many of the schools rugby players to be involved in a very special time in Irish Rugby.
There is also several promising young players in the junior cycle who should hope to emulate Neal’s achievements with Leinster.
On the gloomy side of things, the junior rugby pitch is unplayable after several years of decline a decision was made to close the pitch for matches.
This has left the school with only one pitch being available for matches, leading to the Junior team having only played one home game this season. The result of having only one match worthy pitch is that many games have either been rescheduled or cancelled and there has been a significant increases in travel expenses due to extra busses being required.
The school is currently looking into the possibility of using the new all-weather facilities located adjacent to Clontarf Dart station on the site of the old traffic school as a short term solution.
Playing numbers are also down on some teams from previous years. Players should note that is important for them to attend regular training sessions to reap the benefits as they will take out only as much as they put in.
Coaches will be delighted to welcome new players to all teams. If interested in taking up the sport, speak to current players, team coaches or simply turn up and give it a go.
The year 2009 marked the 10 year Anniversary of our last Cup win. 2010 will be the start of another decade, fingers crossed we can bring home some silverware over the coming 10 years.
