Dear Minister, I am a student of Mount Temple Comprehensive School, Dublin. This letter is to address the proposed budget cuts for 2009. The recent proposals for the 2009 budget will affect my education in many ways, such as the following: · All students, including myself, will suffer from the lack of teachers in school and the shorter school hours. · Sport plays a huge part in daily school life and it is extremely important to the majority of the students in my school. It is also vital for the health of students. However, all of this will change if there are no teachers to coach us and to be available for matches. · Transition Year is very strong and structured in Mount Temple; it is also compulsory for the vast majority of students. The programme consists of many large trips and smaller class outings, all of which benefit the students and broaden their interests. Due to the proposed cuts, many of these trips will not be possible for the future Transition Year students, leaving them at a great disadvantage. · These budget cuts will greatly affect all students who will sit their Leaving Certificate in the years to come, as subject choice will be limited. This will in turn affect the future careers of these students. These are only some of the ways that these cuts in education will affect me and the students in my school. I hope that these cuts are cancelled before anyone is badly affected. Yours sincerely, _______________________
