Basketball news – October 2010

This year we have also entered several teams into the club league under Corinthians. There are 4 girls teams and 1 boys team entered into the league. For the first time in several years a boys team has been entered, it has a lot of potential and hopefully will prove to be succesful. Training takes place on Sunday for club teams. All training sessions are coached by coach Praha.

This year the school as a whole have been entered into the C league and hope to do well. Senior and cadet matches have started of very successful with 3 wins. The boys team played Chanel College and won 36- 28 after an impressive performance. Top scorer being Michael Buggle. The Cadet girls played a close match against King’s Hospital but came out with another win. Senior girls also played Kings Hospital and won very comfortably. Well done to all, great start to the season. First and second year matches will commence in January but until then they will continue to train hard and prepare for the season.

This year of basketball started of very succesfully with the first year camp. Along with making new friends and getting used to the new school the first year girls learned the basics of basketball. This year. Everyone has been training hard since the start of the year and we are hoping to be succesful.Match versus High School played on the 4th of October in the Tallaght Arena.

The senior girls played a close match but came out victorious with yet a again another win with the finishing score being 44-31. Top scorer being Hayley Manning followed by Louise Smith. The first quater proved tough for the mount temple girls when they were faced by a full court press defence but in the following 3 quarters they worked hard to be successful. Well done girls. Keep up the good work. Next match will be played on the 8th of October verses Mount Anville away but support is always appreciated.
