‘Swish The Rails’

Mount Temple “Swish the Rails”

Thursday November 20th 8pm to 11pm

The Mount Temple Parents Association are holding a ‘Swish the Rails’ event on the 20th November 2014 in the school hall. There will be a fashion show on the night, as well as, quality used/designer clothes, handbag and jewellery for sale.

Tickets to this event cost €10 and these will go on sale shortly (limited availability).

We are looking for volunteers or any support that you can provide; such as goodie bag items (beauty/retail), wine, finger food, sponsorship such as advertising in the Hall area, vouchers, prizes for raffle, and various other support with regard to hosting the fashion show (please contact Louise Caird by text 085 174 5731 or email lcaird@eircom.ie if you think you can help in any way).

In the meantime, can you do a big clear out of your wardrobe of those items that you no longer want or wear (no casual gear thanks); Dresses, Workwear, Partywear, kids partywear, other smart clothes, Handbags, Shoes, Belts, Scarves and Jewellery and drop it off to the main office or school hall as set out below.

This will be very much appreciated and all proceeds from this event will be donated to the school as part of the Parents Association fundraising drive for 2014.

Drop off times:

10am to 12am WEEKDAYS – Main office from November 5th.

10-12am SATURDAY 15th November – School Hall

How to INSTALL AND SET UP YOURMount Temple Comprehensive School APP

1. Downloading your App

Your School App runs on BOTH Android and IOS (Apple) operating systems. Depending on your device you can locate your school app by searching your school name ‘Mount Temple Comprehensive School’ in either Google Play or Apples App Store. Above are two QR codes to allow you to quickly see your school app in BOTHof these stores.

2. ALLOW PUSH notifications

Make sure you ALLOW us to send you PUSH notifications. This means you will only receive personalised, timely and relevant information from Mount Temple.

3. Sign up for a new account

Sign up for a new account using any of your own email addresses and create a password.

Then select:



– Input your email (Any email account is fine)

– Create your own PASSWORD

– and SEND

4. SET your Profile

1. Go to PROFILE

2. Select the:

– Year(s),

– Subjects

– and Activities

that you wish to keep informed about.




SET your IOS Notifications

On Apple IOS devices the Notifications are set as illustrated above. Go to SETTINGS and then go to NOTIFICATIONCENTRE. Locate your School Name. Then adjust the ALERTSTYLE for how you receive your PUSH NOTIFICATIONS from the School.

SET your Android Notifications

Go to settings

Locate your School App icon.

Select ‘Show notifications’


Parents Association AGM

Parents Association AGM is on Tuesday 21st October at 8pm library.

Guest speaker:

Theresa Carter of People’s Energy Charter on “Our children and a low-carbon future”.

Liam Wegimont, Principal, will give an update on the proposed new low- carbon school building.

All welcome.

Battle of the Bands

Saturday 11th October at 2pm – There will be a Battle of the Bands competition in the school hall.

First Prize – Recording Time in Floodplain Studios.

If interested please contact Mr. Frew before lunchtime tomorrow (Wednesday).

Competition will not go ahead if there are not enough entries.

Minister launches ‘Africa Also Smiles’ education pack at Mount Temple

On Monday, 24th September the Minister for Trade and Development, Joe Costello T.D. launches the education pack “Africa Also Smiles” here in Mount Temple. This pack is used by teachers to raise awareness of issues effecting African people and countries, and to challenge stereotypes and raise awareness of issues of interdependence, solidarity , justice and human rights. The launch of the pack is the culmination of a continuing partnership between Mount Temple and the Africa Centre. It is part of Mount Temple’s continuing work, outlined in the Learning Policy, to include global learning and education for sustainable development, throughout the curriculum.

First Year Geography Quiz

Geography Quiz will be held for all first years in the canteen on Monday afternoon, 26th March.  Good luck to all.  This will be a team event.  Get your team organised.
