Craft Club News

The Craft Club is hosting a Christmas Card Workshop this Thursday 16th December. We are very fortunate to have a professional card maker leading the workshop.

All materials will be provided and the workshop is FREE.

Sample cards are on display in the cabinet in the Library.
If you are interested, sign up in the library before Thursday. There
are a limited number of spaces so first come, come first served.
People who have been to the Craft Club before will be given priority.

Well done to those who produced beautiful pieces of felt in the
workshop before the Christmas Exams. The instructors from Felt Makers
Ireland were very impressed with the creativity from Mount Temple
students. Please go to S4 to collect your felt.

Another victory for French Debating Team

Our French debating team has won through to the 3rd round of the Alliance francaise Joutes Oratoires 2010, having beaten Scoil Caitriona on November 15th. Sarah Hashish won best speaker. The next debate will take place on Tuesday 14th December at 7.30. All supporters are most welcome.

2010/2011 French debating season kicks off

Following two consecutive wins in the Joutes Oratoires Interscolaires, organised by the Alliance Francaise, Mount Temple has once again entered a team for the 2010/2011 season. The team members are Sarah Hashish (Capt.), Shelley Carlyle, Esmay Murray and Michael Buggle. The first round took place on Oct.1 and the motion was that “l’annee scolaire est trop longue” Despite a very spirited debate, the team was narrowly defeated by Gonzaga College but has been allowed to progress to the second round because of it’s strong performance. Shelley Carlyle won a Best Speaker award. The second round will take place in November when the team hopes to see an equally devoted group of supporters as last time.Many thanks to our French Assistante Anouck for all her help.

Junior team entering Gael-Linn debates

This year there is a Junior debating team entering the Gael- Linn debates. This is a very high- level debating competition and we wish our third years well
