Senior A Girls win

This year, like last year, the Senior girls won the North side League. This time it was not as easy. They took on Santa Sabina in the final having beaten them and all the other teams in the league through out the year.

Santa Sabina scored the first goal leaving Mount Temple 1-0 down at half time. It was a tight match but Mount Temple’s Hayley Manning scored the equaliser from a short corner and that made it 1-1 at full time. The match then went to extra time golden goal and after only a few minutes Nicola Taylor scored and they won. It was nerve wrecking match but it was said by a very good hockey coach that ‘this team going down as the best Mount Temple girls team ever’.

They couldn’t have done it without the brilliant supporters and coach Rob, thanks.

Senior Girls Hockey B Team Northside League Winners

Congratulations to the Senior B girls hockey team on beating Holy Faith Clontarf 4-2 in the final of the Northside League. Girls came back from a one nil down to become champions. Goals were scored by Elizabeth Grainger x 2, Katie Lynch x 1 and Aisling Burke x 1. All girls had a fantastic game. The girls relaxed attitude and help from coach Rob Abbott this year helped them have an extremely successful year, a year for many of the team was their last! Best of luck again next year girls!

Senior ‘B’ Leinster Semi-Final

Well done to the Senior ‘B’ team for reaching the semi-final in the Leinster league. The girls faced Mount Anville as their opposition. It was a very exciting match from beginning to end.

The girls were unfortunate to be 1-0 down at half time and with an even better second half performance it didn’t seem right that they were 2-o down with nine minutes to go. It was decided to take the goalie off in an effort to pull back the game. This risky decision paid off  as shortly afterwards Ciara Williams slotted in the teams first goal to narrow the margin. The girls kept the pressure up and then seconds before the final whistle blew Elizabeth Grainger scored the levelling goal.

All girls worked extremely hard and gave it there all, managing to keep it level throughout extra time. Then, it came down to penelty flicks. Controversially one of Mount Temple’s flicks was disallowed and it went to sudden death. Unfortunately, the girls were extremely unlucky to lose at this point. Great game was had by all.

With Northside still to play for the girls are determined to win some silver ware this year!

Thanks to all the many supporters who came down to cheer them on!

Hockey Update – March

The Senior Girls Hockey team have been doing well this season. Unlucky in the Leinster Premier League they have a tournament on the 5th of March in Mount Sackville. They are progressing through the Northside league, hopeful for another win. Recently they beat Kings Hospital 2-0.

The Senior ‘B’ team won their quater final 5-2 against Loreto Beaufort in the Leinster League on Monday 28th Febuary 2011. Goals scorers were Elizabeth Grainger x 2, Katie Lynch x 2 and Ciara Williams. The girls are waiting on confirmation of the other quarter final which will decide their opposition for the semi-final.  Good luck girls in your home semi-final.

The Senior ‘B’ are awaiting to start their Northside League.  Girls are hoping for a win!

Hockey – October 2010

This year the 1st year camps went extremely well. They were all very enthusiastic.  The Senior  girls are venturing into the Senior Premier League (the highest school league). They placed mid table on their first season last year. They recently played Alexandra College and only lost 1-2. They have also played many friendlies. They beat Sutton Park 8-0, beat Loreto Stephen’s Green 4-0. They beat Holy Faith Clontarf 3-2. Best of luck to all the teams in their Leagues.
