Mount Temple shortlisted for Four Irish Hockey Association National Awards
The shortlist for the IHA awards was announced on Tuesday.
Mount Temple is shortlisted for hockey school of the year.
Kevin Mullins (6th year) is shortlisted for U-18 player of the year.
Mr. Abbott is shortlisted for Umpire of the year.
Mr. Borland is shortlisted for Coach of the year.

Voting is open until the 4th of Feb. Anyone with an interest in hockey can vote so please get behind the school and cast your votes.
Individual Representative Honors
John Mullins (4th year) has been selected on the Irish U-18 team which will compete in the U-21 interpros against Munster, Leinster and Ulster in Three Rock Rovers from the 7th to the 9th of Feb. Mr Borland is assistant coach to the Irish U-18 team.
Miss E Ryan has been selected for the Irish womens 7’s rugby squad for the upcoming World Cup series in America and Brazil. We may have an Olympian on our staff for Rio 2016!
Four 2nd year girls were invited back to take part in the Leinster Development Hockey program this season; Jessica Maguire, Eleanor Dawson, Emer Murphy and Elena Jacob. Both Jess and Ellie have impressed with their performances this year.
Mr Abbott will be in prague shortly representing his club Railway Union in the European Hockey Club Indoor Championships.
1st year ‘A’ boys look like they will qualify for the B league semi-finals. They have a tough cup draw away to a strong Sutton Park side. The ‘B’ team are unbeaten in their league and have two games next week. Mount Temple are hosting the U-13 League A, B and C finals on Wednesday the 26th of Feb.
2nd year boys again look like they will qualify for the B league semi-finals. They won their 1st round cup match 1-0 against Newpark on Wednesday and play away to Kilkenny on the 5th of Feb.
The Junior boys team have qualified for the semi final of the Leinster A league away to Wesley next Thursday the 30th of Jan, final to be played the 26th of Feb. They are also in the quarter final of the Cup.
Senior Boys have a 3 way playoff for second place in their league against St.Columbas and Sutton Park date to be decided. They have the quarter final on the Senior Trophy at home to High School next Monday 24th of Jan at 4 o’clock.
Minor As are meeting St.Raphaela’s in the Plate next Thurs 30th Jan. They had a challenging year competing at the highest level and are looking forward to the Northside league; hoping to reach the final. Northside league matches scheduled for Fri 31st Jan & Fri 14th Feb.
Minor Bs are in the Leinster Playoffs v Loreto Stephens Green next Sat 1st Feb. They will also be competing in Northside league, same dates as above.
First year rugby played Conleths last Wednesday and won handsomely 35-20. Man of the match was Christian Walton.
Rugby Third year’s league competition begins next wed ( the 29th ) with a home game against Kilkenny.
Senior Cup Team beat Sandford Park 20-15 on Wednesday to progress to the next round.
Cadets girls competed in the All Irelands over the weekend (Jan 18th) in Carlow. They won all three games, by scores of 25-16 over Caritas, 56-22 over St. Pauls of Monasterevin, and 24-12 over FCJ Bunclody. The Cadets will next play Colaiste Chroi Mhuire, Spiddal in the Semi Finals, to be played during the week of 3rd-7th of March.
Senior Girls team unfortunately lost in a preliminary game against Abbey Vocational School of Kellybegs.
1st years and 2nd years league has just begun their school league, 2nd years got a decisive win over Ashbourne CS, while 1st years still are waiting to play their first game.
1st Years’ basketball practices are Monday and Thursday 4-5:30
2nd Years’ basketball practices are Tuesday 4-5:30 and Wednesdays
Junior Boys played their first game on Wednesday coming away with a 6-1 victory over Rosmini.
The Senior girls had a 3-1 win over Ballymun comp on the 8th of Jan. The girl’s next match is Wed 29th in u.17 league against Caritas College. We lost our last match v Adamstown 4-3 last week, the girls played very well and the final goal was in the last 3mins.
Mrs Levy has been coaching a small but committed group of athletes for cross country. The 1st years also ran trials in PE class before Christmas. It is hoped that we can gather a strong squad Mount Temple have moved back to North Leinster after a number of years in East Leinster. The North Leinster take place on Wednesday the 5th of Feb.
