Parent’s Craft Club

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThe parents craft group met Monday 1 December to experiment with water soluble textile.

We had two types of fabrics: fully dissolvable, suitable for 2D craft or partially dissolvable, i.e. leaving enough “glue” to make 3D shapes such as bowls.

Wool, transparent fabrics, ribbons, bows, buttons etc are arranged on top of a piece of water soluble fabric and the arrangement is then covered with a second piece of fabric.

The “sandwich” is then free sewn, before the lace effect result is revealed after dissolving the fabrics.

See our photo gallery to get an idea of what we did.

Thank you to Belinda for introducing us to the technique, Aisling for coordinating the group and Susan for hosting the evening as we couldn’t get in the staff room this time.

Next meeting will provisionally be on Monday 15th December: Christmas cake icing and decorating.
