Information about Supervised Study Feb – May 2024

Please read this information before deciding to sign your child up for supervised study.

Devices are permitted to be used in supervised study. Please note that students can’t be effectively monitored. If you think your child will benefit from this time to study and complete homework/ study, we are happy to offer them a place (subject to availability) in after school study.

Dates and times

4pm- 6pm: Mon, Tues, Thurs & Fri. There is a 10 minute break from 5-5:10pm. There is no supervised study on Wednesdays.

Term 1 will start Mon 19th Feb and runs till Tues 21st May 2024

Payment details:

Payment for the term (above dates) is €250 in total. A 50 euro cash deposit (in an envelope with the students name and form on it)  to be given to L Ní Shíomóin (P7) or D. Conway (T1) to secure a place. The deadline for this deposit is Fri 2nd Feb.

Please note that this deposit is non refundable (unless there is no place for the student).

Once the deposit is received, and there is a place available for the student, notice will be given to pay the balance through the app on your school account.

Please note that there may not be places for all students who wish to do supervised study and any extra places available will be offered on a strictly first come first served basis.

At present there are about 20 places available.

Who can avail of after school study?:

Places will be offered to 5th & 6th years on a first paid, first served basis.

The running of supervised study is dependent on sufficient places being filled. In the event that there aren’t enough students to break even, we won’t be in a position to operate.

Group numbers:

Unfortunately we can’t facilitate part time places. If students have other commitments or will be arriving late, parents/ guardians will need to email coordinators in advance.

Rules:

School rules apply as usual.

Students will be required to engage in individual private study and have to be in the room where study is being held.

Should a student disturb the study session they will be asked to leave after contact with parents/ guardians.

Students will be required to leave the premises immediately after each study session.

The use of phones, tablets and other such devices is permitted, however please note that the supervisor cannot monitor work being done on these devices.

Lateness disturbs the study of others and will not be tolerated.

Coordinators:

Supervised study is coordinated by Liadán Ní Shíomóin (liadan.nishiomoin@mounttemple.ie) and Derek Conway (derek.conway@mounttemple.ie) Please email either of us if any clarification is needed.
